Acquaviva in celebration: the Red Onion protagonist of a weekend of food and wine excellence
On the weekend of 6 and 7 July 2024 , Acquaviva delle Fonti will be the stage for a unique celebration: the twentieth anniversary of the recognition of the Acquaviva Red Onion as a Slow Food Presidium.
This event, of great importance for the local community and for lovers of quality food, is organized by the LAG Sud Est Barese in collaboration with the Slow Food Presidium and the Municipality of Acquaviva delle Fonti . During these two days, the town will come alive with a series of unmissable food and wine events, which will highlight the culture and tradition linked to this extraordinary product.
The program of celebrations is rich and varied. There will be show cooking with renowned chefs who will show how to best use the Acquaviva Red Onion in their culinary creations. The book presentations will offer interesting insights into the history and peculiarities of this product, while the aperitifs in the countryside and in the suggestive karst caves will offer a unique sensorial experience, immersed in the beauty of the Apulian landscape .
One of the most important events will be the institutional conference on 6 July, hosted at Palazzo de Mari . This meeting, organized to take stock of ten years of university research on the organoleptic properties of the Acquaviva onion , will see the participation of important figures from the area. Among these, Vito Abbrusci, president of the "La Vera Cipolla Rossa" association of Acquaviva , Pasquale Redavid, president of the GAL Sud Est Barese, and Maria Grazia Barbieri, councilor for Agriculture of the Municipality of Acquaviva delle Fonti.
